FAQ – Language, Lessons, Culture
Answers to the most common questions my clients ask.
These are the questions I get asked most often – about learning, culture, booking, and how AI fits into it all. Still unsure? Just message me – I’ll reply personally.
Language and Teaching Style
Why should I study with you?
Because I see the person, not just the student. I’ll guide you, challenge you, and encourage you – in a way no app or group course can. My clients grow in language skills and confidence.
What’s your teaching style?
My lessons are personal, clear, and flexible. I create a space where you can experiment, and improve – without pressure. You get real-time corrections that I write down for you in the chat, for further reference. We focus on what matters to you: real-life communication.
What’s better – group course or private lessons?
Private lessons are more flexible and focused. Group courses can be fun and social, but they follow a fixed curriculum and focus on the group pace. I offer 1:1 coaching, so everything revolves around you and your needs.
I’ve tried learning a language before and gave up. What’s different this time?
You’re not starting over, instead you’re building on everything you’ve learned so far. With me, you’re not just learning a language. You’re learning how to trust yourself in another language. And that changes everything.
Intercultural Training: Demystifying the Germans
What can I expect from your workshop?
It’s interactive, with plenty of opportunity to share your own experiences and expectations. You’ll find out everything about the German (business) culture, communication style, how to deal with conflict, and above all why Germans behave and speak the way they do.
Will I ever feel truly at home in Germany?
Yes, but it takes time, reflection, and language confidence. We work not only on do’s and don’ts, but also on the “why”.
What’s the biggest mistake expats make when learning German?
Being afraid to speak, because you’ve been told German is difficult and sounds too harsh. Confidence grows from speaking – not before it.
Why do Germans sound so direct – is it rude?
No, just different. German culture values clarity and directness. Once you understand this, everyday life (and small talk) becomes much easier.
Learning in the Age of AI
Why should I pay for a teacher when AI is free?
AI can help with grammar, vocab, and practice – and I often recommend using it. But it can’t ask you the right question. It doesn’t know why you hesitate or what story you carry. I do.
Which AI tools are useful for learning a language?
Clients love: ChatGPT (explanations & conversation), DeepL (translations & style), Speechling & Elsa (pronunciation), Anki (smart flashcards). I’ll help you combine them in a way that makes sense.
